Oral sedation
Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed sedative tablet before your appointment. You stay awake and able to respond, but feel deeply relaxed and at ease throughout your treatment. It's a simple option for patients who feel nervous about routine or moderate procedures.
IV sedation
IV (intravenous) sedation provides a deeper level of relaxation, often called twilight sedation. You remain conscious but drowsy and comfortable, and most patients remember little of the procedure afterwards. IV sedation is well suited to longer or more involved treatment, such as surgical extractions, wisdom teeth removal and implant surgery.
Who is sedation for?
- Patients with dental anxiety or a fear of the dentist
- Longer procedures completed comfortably in a single visit
- Surgical treatment such as wisdom teeth, extractions and implants
- Patients with a strong gag reflex or difficulty sitting for treatment
Safe, planned care
Sedation is planned ahead of your appointment, we'll assess your medical history, explain how to prepare, and make sure you have someone to accompany you home afterwards. Your comfort and safety are monitored throughout your visit in our accredited practice.
